A meeting with Chief Executive Officer of the US International Development Finance Corporation Adam Boehler
On January 9 this year, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov met with Executive Director of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) Adam Boehler.
The dialogue emphasized the positive dynamics in the development of Uzbek-American relations achieved through the deepening of trade, economic and investment cooperation.
The parties welcomed the launch of the initiative 'Central Asian Investment Partnership', which was put forward by the Uzbek side during the visit of the head of DFC A. Bohler to Tashkent in July 2020.
This initiative, which provides for the mobilization of at least USD billion, will stimulate the growth of inclusive, transparent and sustainable investments through the projects in various sectors of the Uzbek economy.
During negotiations, the parties agreed on financing of certain projects in energy, infrastructure, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, as well as agriculture.
They also discussed joint implementation of the regional project for the construction of the Mazar-i-Sharif - Kabul - Peshawar railway. The foreign side highly appreciated the significance of the project in strengthening the transport and communication links between South and Central Asia and the sustainable development of the countries in the region.
The negotiations resulted in an agreement to send a Permanent Representative of DFC to Tashkent to promote the implementation of joint projects and initiatives, to develop new areas of cooperation, as well as to coordinate the DFC partnership with the countries of the Central Asian region.
In order to arrange systemic interaction to ensure the implementation of the agreements reached, the parties decided to develop and adopt a joint Road Map for the earliest possible implementation of the agreements and agreed projects.
