A meeting with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan
On October 20 this year, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov met with President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani during the visit of the Government Delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Kabul.
The discussion during the meeting disclosed a wide range of issues related to political, diplomatic, trade, economic, investment, industrial, regional and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
The parties noted a high level of trusting relations between the two countries, as well as the open and constructive nature of bilateral cooperation at various levels. The parties confirmed their commitment to continue the negotiations in Doha (Qatar). They positively assessed the dynamics of cooperation in priority areas and agreed on the prospects of elaboration of new areas for mutually beneficial partnership in order to reach specific agreements.
The parties indicated their mutual willingness to practically interact in order to develop regions of Central and South Asia through joint projects in the investment, trade, energy, transport and infrastructure. Here, Ashraf Ghani supported the initiative to establish cooperation with international financial institutions, in particular with the US International Financial Cooperation as well as the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank in order to attract additional financial sources to promising projects for the development of travel corridor.
The meeting resulted in agreement to establish direct cooperation between the relevant ministries and departments of the two countries in order to develop a Road Map to enhance cooperation in the political, trade, economic, financial, energy, transport, logistics, cultural and humanitarian areas. The parties will consider the progress in the events provided for in the Road Map on a monthly basis.
