A videoconference with the first Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan

On April 15 this year, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, S. Umurzakov, held a videoconference with First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, K. Boronov.

The parties negotiated on the progress in mutual agreements on trade and economic cooperation, as well as promising measures to fully utilize the existing potential. In this view, the parties considered particular proposals for increasing commodity turnover by increasing mutual deliveries of Uzbek and Kyrgyz goods, expanding industrial cooperation in agriculture, production of agricultural machinery, textiles and building materials including products sale in the third-country markets.

They discussed issues related to the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in terms of including the agenda of the event with specific proposals within investment and trade partnerships.

During the videoconference, there was a discussion of measures taken by the governments of both countries to oppose the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, ensure the security of citizens of both countries and mitigate the economic consequences of global crisis, as well as mechanisms for bilateral cooperation in this area.

The videoconference resulted in agreement on establishment of constant bilateral interaction at the level of heads of foreign economic departments. This interaction will help parties to continue expert elaboration of further elimination of trade barriers, as well as the development of measures to ensure further growth in commodity turnover. The parties also agreed to promptly resolve current issues of trade and economic partnership via regular video conferences.

The introduction of this interaction at the level of heads of transport ministries will be aimed at prompt resolving of cooperation issues in the transport and logistics area.
