Consideration of integrated development of Pskent and Akhangaran districts
On September 27 this year, a Working Group headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov and involving ministries, departments, industry associations, and commercial banks left for Tashkent region to analyze the current state and develop practical measures to increase social and economic development of Pskent and Akhangaran districts.
In Pskent district, the executive officers received a task to take an inventory of infrastructure and social projects being implemented and planned for implementation in 2020, as well as projects in housing construction and urban improvement, to identify pressing concerns that hinder their high-quality and timely implementation, as well as to take prompt measures to solve existing problems.
A particular attention touched upon current state of investment projects in various sectors of industry and agriculture. There is a directive to the need to intensify direct work with entrepreneurs in order to intentionally support each exporter and initiator of investment projects.
There were instructions to ensure targeted assignment of ministries, departments and commercial banks to specific projects with the development of network schedules and indication of executive officers in order to complete the implementation and commissioning of the above projects as soon as possible.
In Akhangaran district, the Group divided its work into 8 key areas covering industry, agriculture, investment, export, housing, and infrastructure construction, social development, and employment of the population. Every area received a separate subgroup involving the heads of the relevant ministries, departments, commercial banks, and local authorities.
The activity of these subgroups will also be focused on the development of new proposals and projects aimed at increase of industrial output and export, support of entrepreneurship, improvement of local infrastructure, development of health care, education, culture and sports, employment by establishing cooperation, including through the conditions for the domestic labour.
There was a recommendation to focus on the most promising industries, i.e. so-called 'points of growth', in order to increase the efficiency of economic potential of these regions.
At the same time, the key principle of the implemented work will be a targeted approach. All pressing concerns will be worked out individually with each entrepreneur, exporting enterprise, service company, as well as at the level of individual makhallas, socially vulnerable families (included in the 'Iron Notebook'), representatives of unemployed youth and women ('Youth Notebook', 'Women Notebook') in order to provide effective support by creating additional jobs and sources of income.
Specially created headquarters coordinated by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade will monitor the work in Pskent and Akhangaran districts on an ongoing basis. They will review the reports of performance of the subgroups on a weekly basis.
