On April 23 this year, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade S. Umurzakov held a video conference with Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Development of the Republic of Poland Jadwiga Emilewicz.
They discussed the progress and prospects for the development of bilateral investment, trade and economic cooperation, as well as the prospects for joint measures to minimize negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the economy of the two countries.
The parties emphasized that the resumption of operation of the Uzbek-Polish Intergovernmental Commission will expand economic cooperation between the countries. In view of this, J. Emilewicz supported the organization of the 7th meeting of the Inter-government Commission and a joint business forum involving business circles of the two countries as the global epidemiological situation improves.
Moreover, the expansion of trade and investment cooperation provides promising areas, i.e. light industry, agriculture, healthcare, education. The parties discussed specific measures to accelerate such projects as the construction of a modern European cardiology clinic in cooperation with the Polish Irimed in Tashkent, opening of a branch of the Polish Collegium Humanum Management University in Andijan region, establishment of an Uzbek Textile Merchant House in Lodz (Poland).
The parties separately considered financial and technical cooperation. It is expected that the Government of Poland would accelerate allocation of preferential credit lines amounted to 50 million to upgrade agriculture, housing and communal infrastructure.
