Franklin Templeton is interested in investing in Uzbekistan

On March 28 this year, Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, held negotiations with Manraj Sekhon, Chief Investment Officer, Templeton Global Equity Investments.

For reference: Franklin Templeton is a global investment company founded in New York in 1947. The company specializes in asset and capital management of companies. The number of employees is more than 9 thousand people.

The meeting agenda included the discussion of implementation status of projects and agreements reached during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M.Mirziyoyev to Singapore in January this year.

In particular, particular attention was paid to the issue of introducing new mechanisms for attracting foreign investment in state-owned enterprises. An agreement was reached on the creation of a National Investment Fund, as well as the opening of the company's office in Tashkent by the end of April this year. To ensure the effective transformation and restructuring of state-owned enterprises, the Singapore company will send highly qualified specialists to Uzbekistan.

The parties agreed on the issue of placing the Fund's shares on the Republican Stock Exchange "Toshkent" in the coming months. This stage will be the first in the framework of the implementation of a set of practical measures aimed at attracting large investors from the United States, the EU and other countries, as well as involving broad segments of the population in investing in the stock market.

Following the meeting, a corresponding Roadmap was agreed upon and a mutual decision was made to establish a working group whose tasks will include the practical implementation of the agreements reached.
