Further steps to deepen Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation were considered
On April 14 this year Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan S.Umurzakov met with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic B.Torobaev in Bishkek.
The sides exchanged views on topical issues of Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation and discussed promising proposals for its further expansion.
The course of implementation of specific joint projects in the fields of hydropower, automotive and agricultural machinery production, as well as issues of organizing the supply of certain types of products in demand, were considered.
The urgency of consistent work to attract Uzbek and Kyrgyz entrepreneurs to the implementation of joint industrial cooperation projects in order to create interconnected value chains in the territories of the two countries was noted.
Further steps were discussed to implement joint infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Uzbekistan–Kyrgyzstan-China railway, as well as the reconstruction of certain sections of the Osh–Irkeshtam highway.
Constructive proposals were put forward to improve the interaction of the customs services of the two countries and to establish an operational exchange of information between them. Also in this context, the possibility of restoring the activities of individual checkpoints on the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border and prerequisites for the construction of logistics centers for cross-border trade were considered.
Following the meeting, the parties determined further actions for the promotion and practical implementation of the discussed projects and initiatives.
