Key business profile and top priorities of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade
On January 4 this year, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov headed a video-conference dedicated to the discussion of the business profile of the Ministry and its top priorities for the coming year. All deputy ministers of investment and foreign trade, as well as heads of departments and business units of the Ministry attended the meeting.
The attendees heard the reports on the results of 2020, which became the basis for the critical review of the work of individual departments and business units. There were instructions to improve the efficiency and promptness of the current tasks. In addition, the consideration touched upon work plans and expected results for the current year with a view to the Ministry's activities.
There was a comprehensive assessment of the quality and timeliness of the measures to monitor investment and foreign trade activities with a view to industries and regions, creation of new investment projects, investment raising, development of proposals to improve industrial policy, practical support to entrepreneurs and exporters and increase of employment of the population. The attendees developed constructive suggestions to eliminate the existing defaults.
They noted the need to increase the responsibility of middle managers, as well as their involvement in the strategic goals of the department. With this in mind, deputy ministers of investment and foreign trade received instructions to develop respective proposals and mechanisms.
The meeting also revised the principles of work organization and the way of interaction between business units when solving outstanding issues. The attendees noted the significance of close cooperation and interaction of the relevant departments during the work on the principles of joint responsibility for the final result. They individually considered the role and responsibility of the sectoral departments of the Ministry in the development of sectoral development programs, raise of high-quality investments in priority sectors of the economy, and implementation of foreign trade policy.
Finally, the meeting determined the tasks for the near future. Executive officers and employees received targeted instructions to improve the efficiency of further work.
