Negotiations on the multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey
On January 19 this year, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov negotiated with Vice President of the Republic of Turkey Fuat Oktay via video-conferencing.
The parties discussed the progress in bilateral agreements in the investment, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas, as well as further steps to accelerate their implementation.
In particular, the parties discussed a number of issues related to the implementation of projects included in the Road Map following the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Turkey in February last year. In view of this, the parties voiced their commitment to further practical support to entrepreneurs of the two countries in joint projects and initiatives.
They touched upon the introduction of Turkey's experience in the industrial development of regions and the organization of effective operation of special economic zones in Uzbekistan.
The parties agreed to intensify the joint work of the relevant ministries of the two countries to agree and approve the Agreement on Preferential Trade between Uzbekistan and Turkey as soon as possible.
The dialogue also considered the issues related to the 6th meeting of the Uzbek-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation (IGC). Here, they agreed that the event will provide a business forum involving Uzbek and Turkish entrepreneurs focused on stimulation of direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries and the development of new projects of industrial cooperation.
After negotiations, the parties agreed to continue close cooperation aimed at the high-quality and timely implementation of the agreements reached.
