Negotiations with Turkish Deputy Minister of Trade
On 31 March 2020, video conference negotiations were held with Gonca Yilmaz Batur, Turkish Deputy Minister of Trade.
Joint measures to mitigate the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic and global crisis on the economic sectors of both countries became the main subject of negotiations.
During negotiations parties also discussed further development of investment and trade and economic cooperation by intensifying the negotiation processes in a number of priority areas identified earlier during the 1st meeting of the Uzbek-Turkish High-Level Cooperation Council in February this year in Ankara.
Under these conditions, it was noted that it is necessary to expedite the conclusion of the Preferential Trade Agreement between Uzbekistan and Turkey.
The parties also talked about possible ways to enhance interaction in the field of logistics and to streamline the tariff regulation system on a reciprocal basis.
At the end of negotiations, it was agreed to continue consultations through the regular videoconferencing to discuss further steps to expedite the implementation of joint projects and activities with the Republic of Turkey.
