On July 27 this year, the Delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov visited the United Industrial Zone "Ankara-1" during the stay in Ankara.

For reference: the United Industrial Zone "Ankara-1" was established in 1978 as supported by the Ankara Chamber of Industry and is considered one of the most developed industrial zones in Turkey. Its area occupies about 1 thousand hectares, while it includes 270 industrial enterprises, which employ more than 35 thousand people. The UIZ accommodates the manufacturers of rolled metal, furniture, electrical equipment, textiles, food and chemical products, as well as agricultural enterprises and defense industrial complex. The annual trade here is estimated at USD 6 billion, while the volume of exports exceeds USD 2 billion.

During the visit, the Delegation reviewed the advanced Turkish experience in managing industrial zones, including comprehensive and consistent provision of the zone participants with the necessary engineering communications and resources, as well as the creation of the necessary social infrastructure for employees of enterprises included in the industrial zone. Thus, the area of Ankara-1 UIZ provides stable connection of each participant to gas, electricity and water supply networks, sewerage systems and high-speed Internet lines. It has operating branches of commercial banks, a center of medical services, a post office, catering facilities, sports grounds, conference halls, centers for advanced training, laboratories for environmental control, clear heliports and the necessary infrastructure for their maintenance.

The Delegation and the administration of the Ankara-1 UIZ agreed to establish bilateral cooperation with a view to the introduction of modern practices to manage industrial zones, while improving operation of free economic zones in Uzbekistan.
