The Asian Development Bank will support Uzbekistan in mitigating the negative effects of coronavirus

June 25 this year The Board of Directors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved the allocation of financing to Uzbekistan amounted to USD 500 million to support budget.

Previously, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade S. Umurzakov and the ADB's President M. Asakawa negotiated via video-conferencing on April 1 this year and agreed to allocate long-term concessional funding.

This funding will be sent to ensure macroeconomic stability, smooth operation of economic sectors, as well as effective social support for the population during the pandemic.

These funds will also be used to purchase artificial respirating units, test-systems, personal protective means, and provision of individual social packages to female health workers.

This financial aid is an additional support of the ADB to grant funds previously provided to the Government of Uzbekistan amounted to USD 1,555,900 under regional technical assistance.
