On January 16 this year, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade discussed the key points of the Address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan.

Top officials and the employees of the Ministry and its subordinate organizations attended. Regional subdivisions of the Ministry participated in the discussion via videoconference.

They heard a report that revealed the essence and significance of the strategic goals and objectives for the current year outlined in the Address focused on investment and foreign trade.

The was a comprehensive discussion on the raise of investment, development of promising investment projects aimed at creating high-tech enterprises that produce products with high-added value, improvement of investment climate, an increase of export potential, and development of regions.

A particular attention touched upon measures outlined in the Address to develop and liberalize the economy, reduce poverty, accelerate the transformation of state-owned companies, create a free competitive environment in the commodity and financial markets, ensure economic growth through the use of 'growth points' within regions, districts, cities and makhallas, creation of favorable conditions for the development of entrepreneurship and small business, increase of performance and efficiency of agriculture, strengthening of social protection of the population and entering new export markets.

The discussion resulted in the exchange of views on the implementation of the tasks set and voiced constructive proposals regarding further activities in priority areas.
