The work on the draft of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the European Union is going on
March 30, 2020. The Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade held video conference negotiations with European experts in Brussels (Belgium) to discuss the development of the trade part of the draft of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the European Union.
During the negotiations, members discussed certain provisions of EPCA Chapter 8 “Public Procurement”, in particular, the general principles of non-discrimination, the use of electronic means in public procurement, and other aspects.
Also, the European party presented and clarified information on the main obligations of the European Union adopted under the WTO Agreement on Government Procurement.
Following the discussion, taking into account the current epidemiological situation in the world, the parties agreed to actively continue conducting similar negotiations in electronic format for joint study of the remaining chapters of the Agreement in order to promptly prepare the document for subsequent initiation and signing.
