Thermal power plant in Tashkent region: Turkey's Cengiz Enerji will construct TPP by 2022
On September 10 this year, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan held negotiations with Turkish Cengiz Enerji touched upon pressing concerns related to a project for the construction of a 240 MW thermal power plant in Tashkent region. The agreement on this project was reached during the visit of the Government Delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Turkey in July this year.
The construction of the TPP will provide direct Turkish investments amounted up to USD 150 million, creation of 500 new jobs during the construction period and 100 jobs during the operation of the power plant, generation of 2 billion kW * h per year of available electricity, which, in turn, provides diversification of the energy balance of the Republic by a significant reduction of the consumption of natural gas spent on electricity generation.
The meeting finished with the Ceremony of Signing of the Investment Agreement between Cengiz Enerji and the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, as well as the Agreement with National Electricity Networks of Uzbekistan JSC on the purchase of electricity from a Turkish company for a period of 25 years.
It is planned to start the construction before the end of the current year, including the commissioning of facility within 12 months after the construction starting.
