Türkiye's Cengiz Enerji plans to expand its portfolio of investment projects in Uzbekistan

On March 14 this year, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting of Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov with Ahmet Cengiz, Executive Director of the Turkish company Cengiz Enerji.

The parties reviewed the results of successfully implemented joint projects and issues of further expansion of investment partnership in the development of the energy sector in our country.

In particular, the results of commissioned modern combined–cycle gas plants were discussed: a 240 MW capacity in June 2022 in the Tashkent region and a 220 MW capacity in December 2022 in the Syrdarya region.

The head of the Turkish company, emphasizing the success of the joint work, announced the company's intention to expand the existing portfolio of investment projects in the field of electricity generation. In this context, a project for the placement of a combined-cycle gas plant with a capacity of 400 MW in the Jizzakh region has been proposed for implementation. This initiative will allow saving 286 million cubic meters of gas annually, which in monetary terms is equal to 103 million USD.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed on a format for further cooperation to implement the new project.

For reference: Cengiz Enerji was founded in 2000. The company specializes in generation and distribution of electricity, trade and distribution of natural gas, as well as construction of combined cycle power plants using natural gas. The company currently manages 9 implemented and 4 under construction projects in the energy sector with a total capacity of 5 GW. 30% of the electricity of the Republic of Türkiye is generated at Cengiz Enerji stations. The number of employees accounts for more than 20,000 people globally.
