Uzbekistan and the UAE discussed prospects for multi-faceted cooperation
On May 7 this year, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov had a telephone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Minister of Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the progress in joint investment projects including traditional and alternative energy, oil and gas industry, financial, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The parties noted that despite the global slowdown in economic activity and temporary restrictions associated with the coronavirus pandemic, cooperation between the countries is dynamically developed.
It was noted, that concerted joint efforts of both sides in May-June this year provide the signing of key legal agreements on large-scale power projects.
The Uzbek side thanked the UAE Government for humanitarian assistance provided for counteracting with the COVID-19. In March this year, Uzbekistan received relief consignments, including masks, overalls, gloves and other protective equipment, as well as medical equipment designed to combat the coronavirus.
The negotiations resulted in agreement to actively promote joint investment projects and ensure their unconditional implementation through the efforts of both parties in a predetermined time.
