Uzbekistan is preparing for the Annual Meeting of the EBRD Board of Governors
On April 15 this year, the Organizing Committee for the Preparation for the EBRD 2023 Annual Meeting held its session in Samarkand.
On May 16-18 this year, Samarkand will host the Annual Meeting of the EBRD Board of Governors, whose shareholders are 71 countries as well as the European Union and the European Investment Bank. About 2,000 representatives of foreign governments, heads of multinational corporations, leadership of international financial institutions and banks, experts in the field of economics, investment, finance and technology, representatives of foreign media are expected to take part in the event. During the annual meeting, current trends in the global economy will be discussed in line with institutional issues related to the Bank's operational and financial activities. On the sidelines of the meeting, a business forum is planned to conduct with the participation of international business circles.
Sardor Umurzakov, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Head of the Administration of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, noted that the choice of Uzbekistan as a venue for this event testifies to the country's key importance for the EBRD as a partner, the dynamic development of multifaceted cooperation with the Bank, as well as the recognition of Uzbekistan's success in implementing large-scale socio-economic reforms by the EBRD's shareholders.
The importance of holding the event at a high level in the context of Uzbekistan's strengthening international image, increasing investment attractiveness and deepening cooperation with international financial institutions and organizations was emphasized.
During the session, the current state of preparation was reviewed, the existing organizational issues were worked out, the annual meeting's agenda was thoroughly discussed, and algorithms for interdepartmental interaction among responsible state agencies were determined.
Following the session, responsible managers were instructed to form the meeting's business program, undertake measures for adequate preparation of urban infrastructure, ensure the safety of foreign delegations and secure successful organization of formal and informal events within the annual meeting's framework.
