Uzbekistan - UAE: New Agreements

A working group from Uzbekistan, led by Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov, is in the United Arab Emirates. On the first day of the visit, meetings and negotiations were held with the leadership of the Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE.

In particular, during the dialogue with Minister of Economy Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, current issues of expanding bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation as well as the implementation of joint projects were discussed.

New private companies from the UAE are interested in entering the Uzbek market. The most promising areas noted in this context were chemical, mining and metallurgical and textile industries.

The possibility of the Emirati companies' participation in the privatization processes taking place in Uzbekistan has been considered, taking into account the purchase of the state stakes of companies specializing in tourism, chemistry, agriculture, construction and other sectors.

The issue of organizing the 5th meeting of the Uzbekistan-UAE Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, as well as a joint business forum in May this year in Samarkand, was agreed upon.

During the dialogue with Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, current issues of expanding bilateral investment cooperation in the development of the energy and infrastructure sectors of Uzbekistan were discussed.

The Emirati side emphasized that the cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the UAE is a practically effective and successful example of bilateral partnership.

The negotiations included the presentation of specific investment cases, outlining further steps for the expansion of bilateral cooperation, and reflected the mutual desire of both sides to develop relations in a wide range of areas.
