Video Conference with Representatives of American Business

On March 27 this year, a video conference was held with representatives of American companies to discuss the current situation and prospects for the development of cooperation in conditions of coronavirus pandemic and unstable global economic situation.

Chairman of the American-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce K. Lamm and heads of about 30 leading US companies (Caterpillar Inc., CNH Industrial, Coca-Cola, ExxonMobil, General Electric, John Deere, Procter & Gamble, General Motors, etc.) participated in the video conference from the American side. The Uzbek side was represented by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov, top officials of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, branch departments and industrial associations.

During the negotiations, representatives of American companies were informed about measures taken by the Government of the Republic to mitigate the negative impact of the epidemic and global crisis on the national economy, ongoing anti-corruption measures, as well as the current ways of communication with Western partners for the accession to the World Trade Organization.

American partners praised the measures taken by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country and ensure the safety of people. The partners also noted that the Government of Uzbekistan takes all measures to ensure all-round development of relations between the two countries and to forge relations with American business.

Heads of American companies expressed their commitment to the further implementation of current and the development of new investment projects based on advanced American technology.

At the end of the conference the parties decided to organize regular video conferencing between individual American companies and their Uzbek partners in order to discuss further steps to accelerate the implementation of joint projects.
