The implementation of the Strategy for Achieving Gender Equality was discussed
On June 6 this year, the Senate Committee on Women and Gender Equality, with the participation of senators, members of the Committee’s Expert Group, representatives of ministries and departments, discussed the implementation of the Strategy for achieving gender equality in the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030 and the Comprehensive Program of Actions for its implementation for 2023.
First, information was presented on the work done to ensure gender equality and increase the role of women in social and political life.
It was noted that political parties prepared and posted on social networks about 100 media products about “Women Politicians”; more than 300 materials on the topic of gender equality were also published in the socio-political publications of the parties (newspapers, magazines).
In order to increase the share of women in the national personnel reserve to 30%, 53 female students were trained in the “School of Women Leaders” curriculum and included in the national personnel reserve.
Centers for the rehabilitation and adaptation of women in work collectives organized short-term training seminars on types of violence and their prevention, which covered over 2 thousand participants.
10,962 handouts, 398 videos aimed at increasing the legal literacy of women and girls were prepared, over 10 thousand meetings and round tables were held in mahallas, educational institutions, enterprises and organizations.
The senators expressed opinions on the timely implementation of the tasks and measures outlined in the Strategy for Achieving Gender Equality, as well as on strengthening work in this direction.
During the discussion, attention was focused on the implementation of some tasks that were not completed on time, and appropriate recommendations were given to ministries and departments.
In particular, the need was emphasized for training members of the Advisory Councils on ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men in all government bodies on the basis of a special program, widespread promotion of video and audio materials aimed at eliminating gender stereotypes in popular social networks and blogs, expanding the volume of short-term training courses in labor collectives of government bodies on types of violence and its prevention.
Based on the results of the discussion, a corresponding resolution was adopted by the Committee, taking into account the proposals and recommendations made.
