Meeting of Ministers on Electricity exports

On November 14, during his visit to Baku, Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, took part in a trilateral meeting of the relevant ministers of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan on the production and export of electricity.

The meeting was also attended by Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Almassadam Satkaliyev, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Djurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the conversation, prospects for the implementation of a project to organize the transfer of electricity produced from alternative sources through the territories of the countries of the region to consumers from third countries were discussed.

The importance of the project implementation for the development of energy partnership and infrastructure of the countries through which the cable route will be laid was noted, bearing in mind the multiplicative effect in the form of the creation of new facilities and jobs.

"The development of the green electricity transfer project will strengthen ties between our economies and energy systems, as well as allow the development of national energy industries, and we are ready to contribute to the joint work on the successful implementation of this initiative," said Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade.

Representatives of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan were also familiarized with the measures taken in our country to support high–tech industries and the transition to a "green" economy within the framework of the main goal set by the Head of State - bringing the share of renewable energy sources in the total volume of electricity production to 40 percent by 2030.

During the meeting, a number of important aspects of the project implementation were also considered, including the main conditions for the formation of a regulatory framework, conceptual parameters of the technical and economic efficiency of this initiative.

Following the meeting, the participants confirmed their commitment to taking comprehensive measures within the framework of the project, developed a format for further interdepartmental cooperation and developed a clear action plan for the successful implementation of the agreements reached.
